Baseball Wales v England 1982 (great catch by wales)

  1. After my previous blog I thought it might me a good idea to remind people of our own indigenous games here in Wales. Welsh baseball is played primarily in the South Wales, particularly Cardiff and Newport but there are also clubs in Liverpool. Until the late eighties a form of Cnapan, a medieval football game was played annually between Newport and Nevern. It's not Just Wales and Ireland that have such a rich sporting heritage in the Celtic world with Scotland having shinty and the highland games as well as Cornwall having its own ferocious form of hurling.

  2. I'd love to see S4C (or BBC Wales) revive the live broadcast of the annual Wales v England baseball match. I was watching the final of the Scottish Shinty game on BBC Alba - why not Wales?

As a father and Welshman I'd also prefere that Welsh/British Baseball was played in the summer time rather than cricket. Baseball is a much faster and democractic game - every one gets a go. In cricket the best batsmen go in first and stay there for the whole game - it's very boring for those not so good at it.

Less snobs in S4C and BBC Wales and more baseball please!
